The Collier County Museum collects,
safeguards and preserves historical, archaeological and culturally
significant relics of Collier County's past, and interprets these
materials through the use of exhibits, tours, school and community
outreach programs, special events, lectures, historical research,
pictorial archives and printed reference works to promote a fuller
public knowledge and appreciation of Collier County's heritage,
development and traditions.
To provide exhibitions of quality for
the community with special attention given to area students; to
provide docent-conducted tours for school groups and adults; to
provide an art lecture series, encompassing a range of topics from
art history to technical demonstration; to develop and operate a
community arts education program; and to research, develop and
provide education on objects in its permanent art collection.
To further the awareness
of the teddy bear as a collectible and display examples of artist,
antique, manufactured and handmade bears. To promote bear making as
a soft sculpture art form, to develop an archive of its history
and to present the art's range to the public.
